In a step reflecting its ongoing commitment to supporting sustainability and innovation in the transport sector, Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) has launched Green Mobility Week, starting today, Monday, November 25, 2024, and running for one week. This initiative aims to highlight the importance of sustainable mobility, raise awareness about eco-friendly transport options, and showcase RAKTA’s role in delivering innovative and smart solutions that align with Ras Al Khaimah’s vision for environmental and developmental sustainability under its Green Mobility Strategy 2023-2040.
A Week of Sustainable Green Mobility
Green Mobility Week comes as part of RAKTA’s Green Mobility Strategy, which seeks to reduce carbon emissions and balance urban development with environmental preservation. During this week, RAKTA has designated a Free Public Transport Day on city buses, encouraging residents and visitors to embrace public transportation while promoting its environmental and social benefits.
The week will feature a series of awareness workshops alongside exhibitions of the latest eco-friendly transport solutions, such as electric vehicles, smart booking services, and public transport projects. These activities will emphasize the role of shared mobility in reducing traffic congestion and energy consumption, supporting long-term sustainability goals.
Coinciding with Green Mobility Week, RAKTA will also participate in the RAK Energy Summit 2024, held on November 27 and 28. At the summit, RAKTA will showcase key initiatives and projects derived from its Green Mobility Strategy 2023-2040, aimed at advancing smart and sustainable transportation while minimizing the carbon footprint.
Smart Applications Driving Sustainability
RAKTA places significant importance on leveraging smart transportation applications, such as the Sayr Platform, an innovative journey-planning solution for Ras Al Khaimah. This platform integrates various modes of transport, including public buses, intercity services, taxis, and ride-sharing options, achieving efficient resource utilization and reducing emissions while enhancing the customer experience.

H.E Eng. Esmaeel Hasan AlBlooshi, Director General of RAKTA, stated:
